Hey Guys, Sarah here.
I wanted to personally introduce myself as the creator of ARC.
I’m a Calgary born, Vancouver raised, chocolate and puppy lover, who is enthused about making the planet a better place, not just for the next generation but for everyone, RIGHT NOW!
Before ARC Apparel was what it is now, it was a dream, a vision of what I knew I needed to create after learning more about the Fashion Industry.
I’ve been a girly girl since birth. I’ve loved clothes, fashion and styling all my life. I was putting on lipstick and trying on my mom’s heels before I could even see over the counter and into the bathroom mirror. So, when I discovered that the Clothing Industry was the second highest contributor to CO2 emissions and that a “cheap” price tag likely meant that the person who made that item wasn’t being paid a fair wage, I was TORN. Where do I shop now?! I needed to learn more and find out more about the brands I shopped with regularly. When I started my research journey, I came up to lots of walls. The information wasn’t easily attainable and I found it SO frustrating. This is when the vision for ARC was born. I knew I needed to create a one stop shop that women could trust for responsible fashion. It has now become a place that can empower everyone to learn more if they like or just rest assured that the research is done and every purchase is a step towards lessening their impact on the planet.
I want everyone to feel great about the life they are leading and what we put on our backs plays a part in that. We get dressed every day and our clothes are a reflection of who we are and how we feel. Confidence is KEY. When a woman is confident, she can accomplish anything. That confidence can come from the fact that her outfit is on point, or she knows that the outfit was made right here in North American – decreasing her footprint and contributing to the economy. We want to help you feel amazing about your closet. Style, Fit, Price Point, Ethics, you name it, we’re trying to cover it all.
Now that you’ve learned about how we came to be, I want to learn about YOU and what YOU want to read about in this Journal! Please leave us a comment and let us know – do you want styling tips, tips on how to lessen your impact in other ways? Information on fabrics and factories? More about our brands?
I can’t wait to hear from you. xx
